I just can't help posting this picture...they are just too cute!
Did you see that finale last night?? Ok, so the show was pretty bizarre but the end made it all worth it!! I would have been content had either of them won...but Scotty was my favorite from the beginning. But, did you see that kiss at the end? We had some good friends over to watch it and we must have rewound it 5 times to watch it over and over. They are just so stinkin' adorable! Can't wait to hear them both on the radio!
Once upon a time, a Yankee girl and a Southern boy fell in love and started their own little family...

update
So, several people have asked me lately how our foster care process is going...so I thought I'd give a quick update about it here. We finished all the classes about a month ago and have had our fire inspection, physicals, TB tests, and home visit. Chris did his CPR training last week (I am required to have it for work anyways). So, all that's left is our office visit with our social worker which is scheduled for the middle of June. Then, all the licensing information is sent to the "big-wigs" (actually, Chris and I just realized we don't know where it goes...just somewhere important!). It usually takes about 60 days for this to be processed but then we should be licensed. So, it's looking like we could potentially be placed with a child sometime in August.
At first we thought we wanted to be placed with a younger child...baby through age 4. But, after going through all the classes, we have decided that we are willing to take up to 5th grade (no middle or high school...yikes!). So, if you think of it, pray that the Lord is preparing both us and the child who will be placed in our home!

cakes and babies!
I promise that my blog is not turning into a cake blog...but cakes do seem to take up quite a bit of my time these days. Not that I'm complaining, I do really enjoy it! I have 4 cakes to do in the next two weeks, phew! So, you'll probably be seeing a few more cake blog posts!
Last week I made a sailboat themed baby shower cake for my good friend and co-worker Lauren. She is due in July with her first- a little boy that they are naming Jeffery Hans. Here it is!

refreshed.
My job can be great. It can be rewarding, fun, and pretty enjoyable. But, it can also be stressful, exhausting, and overwhelming. For the past few months it's been mostly the latter. I've been getting a bit burnt out. Last week my co-worker (and really good friend!) Christie and I went to Charlotte for a 2 day training. If you're reading this and don't know what I do for work (though I assume most of you do), I work for Wake Forest as an exercise physiologist for a large physical activity study funded by the National Institute of Aging. It's called the LIFE Study, you may have seen our cheesy tv commercials ;) The study actually takes place at 8 universities around the country and last week all of us met in Charlotte. To be honest, I was kind of dreading the whole thing. Spending almost 16 hours in training sessions didn't sound like how I wanted to spend my time. However, the training was wonderful. I left feeling very refreshed about my job. It reminded me why I do this job in the first place. It was so great to hear that other people face the same problems we do! I am hoping this new attitude and outlook on my job holds up...at least until our training next year!

Happy Mother's Day!
Happy mother's day to my wonderful Mom. I am blessed more that I can put into words for the mom that I have! She has taught me so many things but most importantly she has modeled what it means to love unconditionally. I love you Mom!
In other news, here's the cake I made this weekend for a college graduation.

Happy Friday!
So, this is a picture of my kitchen after I finished my latest cake (which I will blog about as soon as it is delivered). However, I feel like it sort of describes my life right now. Hectic. Messy. Cluttered. Slightly disorganized. We have been so busy lately. Between work, the nursery, kickball, softball, church things...phew. It's a wonder I remember to breathe! However, I am learning to treasure my free time and those moments that Chris and I can just relax at home together.
In other news, I turned 27 on Tuesday. I think I'm officially in my late twenties! I am looking forward to this next year, I already have some fun things planned! Like our yearly trip to Maine in July plus a trip to DisneyWorld in January. And, my parents are talking about going to London next spring and they have invited me to go! Maybe I'll finally get my chance to meet Prince Harry (sorry Chris!) ;)
